For Your Future

California Dream Week: Dreaming a Sustainable Tomorrow

For inquiries or to receive further info for students or teachers, please contact: info@californiadreamweek.com
November 23, 2010 - California Dream Week is officially launched: a revolutionary new project that will give California North State youth the opportunity to immerse themselves into the international design arena, and to participate in an intercultural event that will also generate funds for California's suffering schools. The six month project will be conducted in three phases:
Phase 1 - California Dream Week commences this Fall 2010, inviting Junior and Senior high school students from the California North State to submit their ideas and dreams for a sustainable tomorrow. The dreams will focused around 3 target categories: Architecture & Design, Transportation, Product compliments. The judging criteria of the submissions is devised so that any student with a creative idea can participate - mockups or models are not a requirement.
Phase 2 - An international jury will judge the student submissions and the top 3 projects in each category will be provided to professional architects, designers or creatives from around the world. In this phase of California Dream Week, the student becomes the "client company" to whom the professional must provide a design to match the brief. The student idea will be interpreted according to the cultural and professional experience of the designer.
Phase 3 - The event will conclude with a show week in Spring 2011 in Chico, California - one of the nation's hotbeds of sustainability. Visitors to the city will have the opportunity to peruse a series of specially created showrooms, with each showroom highlighting a different project. How each student's sustainability dream is interpreted by the corresponding professional designer will shine a light on our need for global unity and cultural understanding when considering the future of our planet.
